John P. O’Leary, Jr. of Brighton died suddenly at home from cardiac arrest. He went home to Christ on Saturday, September 23, leaving scores of people who loved and respected him. He is survived by his parents, John and Catherine O’Leary of Needham, his sister Ginny Arpino (Paul) of Waltham, his brothers Michael (Christine) of Newburyport, David (Jennifer) of Medfield, and Christopher (Kerry) of Westwood. He also leaves nieces and nephews Ken, Elizabeth and Stephen Arpino, Liam, Michael, Kieran, Abby and Finn O’Leary, and Josh, Tessa and Carisa Boyle.
Jay was long-time Friend of Bills. He took his sobriety seriously for the past 16 years, and was happy to guide all others who sought support.
Jay’s faith was the center of his life. An active member of Our Lady Help of Christians in Newton, he sang in the choir and belonged to a faith sharing group. He lived his Cursillo at the table of St. John in March of 2009 and was an active member of the Cursillo community.
Jay was mechanically gifted, a handyman extraordinaire. He took great pride in his job as the Maintenance Supervisor at The Farm in Chestnut Hill, and gladly shared his many skills with the residents who lived there.
Most of all, Jay was a beloved son, brother, uncle and friend who was generous with his time, his talent and his love. He will live on in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to Boston Cursillo, c/o Chris Graf, 286 Tremont Street, Newton, MA 02458.
