Mary C (Farina) Nardone
Mary C. (Farina) Nardone, 88, of Newton, passed away on Sunday June 18, 2017 following a brief but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was the beloved wife of 59 years to Edmund B. Nardone who predeceased her.
Born in Newton on April 13, 1929, Mary was the daughter of the late James and Angelina (DeMarco) Farina. Mary was the third oldest of eight children: Anna Hawkins (deceased), Joseph Farina (deceased), John Farina, Alfreda Cleveland, Rita Cannistraro, Elizabeth Hill, and Vincent Farina.
Mary is survived by her daughter Karen Nardone-Lemons and her husband Terry of Norfolk, her sons Mark Nardone and Eric Nardone both of Newton and her grandchildren Michael Lemons of Brookline, Aubree Lemons of Bellingham, and Isabella and Christopher Nardone of Newton. She is also survived by many brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mary was raised and educated in Newton and was a graduate of Newton High School, and secretarial school. Her professional administrative assistant career spans 60 years and includes: the Veteran’s Administration, Boston College Law School, and Marathon Realty from which she retired several years ago at age 84.
Mary was very involved in the Newton community for many years, serving on the Newton Little League Board of Directors, and the Newton Republican Committee.
An avid Boston sports fan, Mary especially enjoyed Boston College football, the Boston Red Sox, and the New England Patriots. She truly enjoyed vacationing in Falmouth, making puzzles, reading novels, and playing board games and cards; however, she was happiest when spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to gather in her memory at Andrew J. Magni and Son Funeral Home located at 365 Watertown St. Newton, MA, on Wednesday June 21 from 4:00-7:00 pm and again at 9:15 am on Thursday June 22, followed by a funeral mass at Our Lady Help of Christians Church, located at 573 Washington St. Newton, MA 02458.
