William O. Bracken of Auburndale died at the Kaplan Hospice Home on March 20 2017 in Danvers MA after a long illness.

Mr. Bracken was born on January 15 1943 in Newton MA to his parents, James and Auldice Bracken. He graduated from Newton High Trade School in 1963. After graduation, he worked for Glover Sheet Metal in Newton, later joining the start-up management team of Mancini Sheet Metal of Billerica, where he worked until his retirement in 2006.

Mr. Bracken was an avid golfer and gardener. His passion for the game of golf was legendary, winning many local tournaments. He had a special relationship with local friends and business owners with whom he played golf each week for the last 40 years. Bill played fast-pitch softball for the Post 24 Softball League for 12 years, winning first place in 1978. He spent many winters in Pompano Beach FL, playing golf with family and friends.

Mr. Bracken is survived by his daughter April of Newton, his son William and wife Tasha of Newton, his brother James P and wife Catherine of North Andover, brother John F of Wareham, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, wife Dorothy, and his sisters Geraldine Lee, Judith Powell, and Linda Corliss.

Visiting hours in the Andrew J. Magni & Son Funeral Home, 365 Watertown St, Rt. 16, Newton, Friday, March 24, from 2-7pm. Funeral Mass Saturday at 10:30AM in Our Lady Help of Christians Church, 573 Washington St, Newton.  Followed by burial in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
